The Amathus Hotel).
According to mythology, the Ancient City
of Amathus was where Theseus left the pregnant
Ariadne to be taken care of, after his battle
with the Minotaur. It is also the very place
where the cult of Aphrodite-Astarte flourished.

The
Ancient City-Kingdom of Kourion is one of
the most spectacular archaeological sites
in Cyprus, where excavations are still bringing
new treasures to light.
The magnificent Greco-Roman Theatre was
originally built in the 2nd century B.C,
but has since undergone a full restoration.
Today, it is the main venue for various
theatrical and musical performances. |

Apollo Hylates, God of the Woodland, was the
protector of the city of Kourion.
The cult of Apollo was celebrated here from
the 8th century B.C. to the 4th century AD.
